left it in a bit of learch there, didn't i?
byron bay, gosh, that was a while ago.
ok well, a lot has happened since the last entry, so i'll bring it up to date.
i came home and started looking for a place to move into.
uni started, and i've been enjoying my degree, communications, and moved out in march.
currently living in waratah with a group of cool guys.
its a really green, open minded, environmentally friendly household, so its a nice environment to be around.
I like the positivity, and not being seen a freak due to my new found views on dumpstering and hitching.
Oh, while im on that topic, we went dumpstering recently, jesmond fruit barn.
got loads of stuff and it meant i could finally start contributing to www.trashwiki.org which i'm stoked about.
Ive decided knowledge sharing websites like trashwiki and hitchwiki are hugely important in empowering people to lead lives that don't rely on a capitalist system.
As a result my goal at the moment is to find ways to contribute and promote.
we're chucking around some ideas about a hitch hiking event similar to project 888 in paris, which i think would be fantastic.
not only would it mean hitchwiki gets an up to date and comprehensive hitching guide for australia (as people would be encouraged to contribute what they learnt from partaking in the event), but it would also work at combating the taboo of hitching that's so present within australian society.
this is my goal at the moment.
its sad though, i feel the freedom of travel fading. becoming an idea rather than the reality that it is. i hate that, i think the normality and patterns of life have caught up with me... i might need to take off at the end of the year to regain my independence.
i need to get my license, i think. its on the agenda.
so, things to do:
get license
organise hitching revolution
find a new place to live (we're being evicted :P)
continue gathering information about dumpstering
get a job (an unfortunate reality)
until next time, and i have no idea when that will be, i leave you with an except i've taken from an article commenting on the recent economic crisis. i recommend reading the while thing.
"Local currencies favored local transactions, and worked against the interests of large corporations working from far away. In order to secure their own position as well as that of their chartered monopolies, monarchs began to make local currencies illegal, and force locals to instead use “coin of the realm.” These centralized currencies worked the opposite way. They were not earned into existence, they were lent into existence by a central bank. This meant any money issued to a person or business had to be paid back to the central bank, with interest."

that is all for now.
